Nigerian satellite NigeriaSat-2 and Nx are shipped to launch site

London, April 19, 2011.

Nigerian Satellites NigeriaSat-2 and Nx have been sent this day to its launch site, the first of these experts has been developed by British company Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, SSTL, and the second was built by a technical team of Nigerian experts under the supervision of SSTL, that as part of an extensive program of training and technology transfer.

The NigerisaSat-2 satellite is for the SSTL-300 platform of Surrey Satellite is one of the most advanced mini satellites in the world in its class, with 2 sets of image acquisition, a first high-resolution system with a sensor modod 2.5 meters in panchromatic and 5 m in multispectral mode with a swath width of 20 km, and a second medium resolution system with a sensor multiepsectral of 32 meters resolution and 300 km wide scanning for regional applications, this platform has a total weight of 282 kgs and 7 years of life useful.

Nx corresponds to the satellite platform of Surrey SSTL-100 Cable, is a mini satellite of only 88 kg, which has a multispectral sensor with a resolution of 32 meters and a width of sweep of 600 kms, which can cover all of South America in just 5 days.

26 experts should be noted that Nigerians have developed an extensive program of training and technology transfer 30 months in the UK, including graduate studies and master's degrees in aerospace science, which studies have been complemented with practical "hands on" through which they have built themselves with the advice and British supervision, the satellite Nx.

This project is part of a program that started the anio 2004 with the launch of the satellite Nigerisat-1, which also included an extensive program of training and technology transfer, which allows countries to developing ways to develop local capacity shall own. Surrey Satellite is a world leader not only in the development of mini satellites for earth observation, with 34 satellites launched and more than 200 years of accumulated service life in space, but also is a global leader in technology transfer programs, having to date developed 15 technology transfer programs (KHTT-Know How Transfer and Trainning), which led to the creation of 6 National Space Agencies, 6 space missions themselves and the creation of 2 private companies in aerospace issues.

After the launch pad for Soyuz rockets in Kourou

Published on the web: 01/04/2011 InfoeEspacial.com the

Paris .- The European Space Agency (ESA) announced it has completed the construction of the ramp Russian rocket launch Soyuz the European Space Centre in Kourou in French Guiana, whose first flight is scheduled within the next months of July and September.

After four years of joint work between Russian and European scientists, the base of Kourou last tests to begin sending the Soyuz space craft . EFE reported, this ramp may be placed in the cargo space of up to 3 tons, compared with 1.7 tons of rockets launched from the Baikonur base in Kazakhstan.

Installing launch of Soyuz enabled in the European space base can not send, for now, flights manned, but is able to adapt to such missions. Construction of the new launch site began in February 2007 after two years of work and previous facilities. "The launch tower is nearly identical to the others of Soyuz in Kazakhstan and Russia, but adapted to European safety regulations," ESA said in a statement.

this month of April, ESA technicians will begin to carry out the necessary tests to verify that the Soyuz rocket and new facilities work well together and begin to train experts in conditions Released real. After the simulated exercises, the shuttle will begin to send ships Kourou Soyuz space from the third quarter.

(*) This news is of great importance in the region, since this platform will be held on satellite launch SSOT Chile, which last February played a retrace anions. The first launch from Kourou in a Soyuz-ST will be held in July, and will be after that and the second launch scheduled for September, to be launched into space SSOT Chilean satellite.

Ecuador launches its first satellite to look at Earth from space

Quito (EFE) .- Ecuadorian Civilian Space Agency (EXA), led by astronaut Ronnie Nader, submitted on Monday a small satellite designed to enable his countrymen, especially students, can look at Earth from space. It is expected that the satellite, such as "Cube-sat" drafted largely by domestic technology itself, may be released in 2012.

graduate as an astronaut in Russia, Ecuador Nader about five years ago returned to their country to undertake various missions, including the creation of the Agency and the development of a Program Ecuadorian space. Since his return he went to work and so far, has developed several projects, among which is "Hermes", an earth station linked to several satellites, but now requires own.

also communicates daily EXA on ultraviolet radiation levels, public information warning the public about the intensity of this phenomenon in the country.

Also, Nader led a mission in a plane of the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) to create zero gravity, which flew several students. However, his dream he says, is "touch the sky with your hands" and therefore has committed to developing national technology necessary to try to achieve in the future. The operation of small satellite type "Cube-sat" was renamed "Mission Pegasus" and originally was scheduled to have it ready in 2016. However, "in 2009 we realized we could do before, then did the Hermes project, which is the earth station, whose reason was the Pegasus Project," the astronaut said in an interview with Efe. Its construction began in 2010 when studies were performed, testing and set up a laboratory in which five engineers worked directly and ten others with funding support from a company that produces natural juices.

A first objective of the project is to prove that our national satellite technology works, or that we know to navigate in space, we can send video in real time and verify that "we do satellites." A second goal, he said, "is education," and this is the main function of Project Pegasus.

"When the satellite passes through here is going to send two questions to the larger social networks, Facebook and Twitter, people would be able to read and answer. If a person answers that question well, which will be science and technology, the satellite will give you immediate access to your video camera.

The award will be the winner "will be able to see Earth from space, but the questions" will not be easy, they will be a little complicated "and" the price we must pay the contestant's knowledge "and scientific research. Nader said the project will be open to the public in Ecuador, especially students but the most interested and applied will have the opportunity to enjoy other benefits.

"We want people excited, learn, because this step (...) shows that we want a future of progress, and that means doing science and technology, "added the astronaut. The ultimate goal, he said, is that" the formation of a national manufacturing industry satellites, though that might seem a bit unbelievable ... If he had said a year ago that the satellite would perhaps not have believed it, but it's done, "he added.

" The satellite we're launching on a Russian rocket, although obviously wait a launch window. Our satellite is small, good kid, then it will be attached (...) a large satellite, "he said. Nader expects the Ecuadorian Air Force, the project partner, whoever will help in negotiating with the Russians and is the institution best suited for this."

"Satellite is the first 'Cube-sat' in carrying anti-radiation shield "and is part of the National Space Program, which provides in the future a" manned "said Nader, whose dream is to go into space himself with the flag of country.

(*) This satellite as mentioned is of the "Cubesat" whose dimensions are 10 x 10 x 10 cm, and the peak similar satellites that are building the National Engineering University, the Chaski-1 and UAPSAT Alas Peruanas University in Peru, whose main applications are basically tional education and does not operate, that is not to provide permanent services, but rather to introduce and train professionals in this new technology.

100% CONFIRMED: DEFENSE MINISTRY ANNOUNCES PURCHASE OF PERU

Lima, March 28, 2011. DEFENSE MINISTRY CONFIRMS THE GREAT NEWS

After the March 26 is published in the official media as the agency Andina and the official gazette "El Peruano", the big news bounced in various national media as El Comercio, La Republica, Peru 21 and RPP, and then be international media also hung from Chile, Spain and Mexico.

On 27 March the news was confirmed at 100% to be posted on the website of the Ministry of Defence finally the current government took the momentous decision to purchase a satellite system Earth observation itself, which as announced, would be implemented meeting the highest standards tecnológicos.El footnote of MINDEF can be seen in detail by clicking on the image in the top of the note.

BACKGROUND TO CONSIDER

It should be noted that according to what is stated in the note, it is a satellite system itself, therefore definitively rule proposed satellite shares, which do not give you any control over the satellite and in practice are actually providing a service of images of a very high cost, and whose proposal was said, was offered by companies English to share the future satellite system SEOSAT or Ingenio, which would come into operation recently in 2014, with a spatial resolution of only 2.5 meters at a cost of 190 million euros. http://www.intelpage.info/satelites-ingenio-y-paz.html

On the other hand it should also comment on how close history, the experience of Brazil, which together with China, recently built the satellite CBERS-2B (China Brazil Earth Satellite resorces) at a cost of U.S.. $ 200 million, with a maximum spatial resolution of 5 m and only had 3 years of life. See details at: http://microsateliteperuano.blogspot.com/2010/07/satelite-brasilero-cbers-2b-dejo-de.html

should also take into account the experience of Chile, which has its satellite ready for launch in February 2010, however due to an inappropriate choice of a new and untried system with the contractor Arianespace launch its satellite built by EADS Astrium SSOT, it takes more than 1 year late and according to various media, indicated that it will be released only in the second half of 2011, where the obsolescence of their components will obviously pass the bill. See details at: http://www.infoespacial.com/?noticia=satelite-ssot-de-chile-un-ano-de-retraso

has also been discussed a lot about a South Korean offer at this point would only comment that this country has developed independently in only 2 Earth observation satellites, and although this is high tech even do not know for sure its operational capacity and would really be a high risk for an alternative country with so little experience in a specialized field. See details at: http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/world/rok/kompsat.htm

For those who at some point have read or followed this blog it is clear that there is every reason to consider the proposal Surrey Satellite UK as the most technically solid , offering unique features such as: immediate access and ownership of a satellite in orbit, the earth station implementation of control mission in Peru, the construction of a satellite of the latest technology by British engineers, a comprehensive technology transfer program including the construction of a satellite by Peruvian engineers and the construction and licensing of satellite exports from Peru , which would position to Peru as aerospace power in the region.
should also be recalled that SSTL is number 1 in the world in technology of mini-satellites, with 34 satellites launched to date, more than 200 years of life in space, in addition to this proposal supported British government and its implementation through an agreement between governments. See details : http://www.sstl.co.uk/

the outstanding role of CONIDA

I can not conclude this note without special recognition to the National Aerospace Research and Development, and in particular its Chief institutional FAP Colonel Enrique Barriga Pasco and his team of collaborators, which act with the utmost professionalism, have developed over 4 years and 7 months all necessary technical studies to reach this point, a process that began with the profile-level study in October 2006, through the appropriate pre-feasibility study feasibility and finally, to achieve the economic viability of the MEF to start this year 2011.

Thus, this final stage of implementation is therefore only of a process, and in no way be taken as a hasty decision, but is rather a corollary of a long technical process carried out brilliantly by CONIDA, which is backed by its inclusion in government plans of 2 candidates the presidency. In this last stage, we hope that the final decision is correct and we can all celebrate the hand with economic development, let's be aerospace power in the region, one more reason to feel proud to be Peruvian.

Sir Martin Sweeting father of the Mini Satellites technology

See video at:

In February this year was held in London on the tenth anniversary of the Disaster Monitoring Constellation, constellation mini multinational observation satellites owned land from different countries and built by the British company Surrey Satellite Technology Limited -SSTL . This innovative concept of mini-satellites, dating back to 1981, when Dr. Martin Sweeting as part of his PhD thesis in Electronic Engineering and Communications at the University of Surrey, built and launched the first micro satellite in the UK.

Professor Martin Sweeting was born in London in 1951, pioneered the concept of building low-cost mini-satellites and high capacity, using existing electronic components, but prepared to operate in extreme conditions of space , thereby achieving lower costs dramatically, having coined the term "Changing Space Economy."

In 1985, after having built and successfully launched 2 micro satellites University of Surrey, formed the company Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, SSTL, which has designed, built and launched 34 satellites to date, including the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (which includes countries like Algeria, China, Nigeria, Turkey, Spain and the UK), currently in final construction phase observation satellite platforms 8 for various countries such as Nigeria, Russia, UK, Canada and Kazakhstan, and 14 satellites European GPS constellation GIOVE commissioned by the European Space Agency, ESA.

With a very particular philosophy for its origins at the University of Surrey and close relationship with the Surrey Space Center, one of the most space research centers in Europe, has managed to develop successfully comprehensive technology transfer programs for 12 countries, among which we can mention Korea, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa, among others.

In 2004, formed the company SSTL DMC International Imaging (DMCii), which coordinates the operation business data provided by Earth observation satellites that make up this constellation multinational. The DMC is part of the International Charter "Space and Major Disasters", and has provided important information to major disasters like the Tsunami in Asia, Hurricane Katrina, floods in Colombia and the United Kingdom, the earthquake in Sichuan in China, etc.

SSTL now has grown to 360 employees, builds mini geostationary communications satellites, radar, satellite navigation and is working on an upcoming mission to the moon, all these projects at a fraction of the usual cost. His most recent challenge, the construction of a constellation of satellites combined with one hand to cover the ground completely in a day and others with sub-meter monitoring capabilities.

's CEO Sir Martin Sweeting of Surrey Satellite Technology Limited and also Director of the Surrey Space Centre, where leading a team of 60 engineers and doctors who investigate the most advanced technologies and concepts for mini-satellites, has created SSTL commercial real academic synergy. Sir Martin has received numerous awards for his contribution to the development of aerospace technology and in particular for pioneering the concept of mini-satellites, has been knighted by the Queen of England in 2002, 2006 became part of the board of the British Space Agency and the Advisory Committee on Micro gravity, human spaceflight and space exploration United Nations, recently received the Gold Medal of the Royal Institute of Navigation in the UK for the development of the successful GIOVE-A mission, which led to the European Galileo GPS constellation.

This visionary engineer who has made it possible for aerospace technology approaches to developing countries could visit soon, we aware of this exceptional academic event.
